The annual exhibition of the Newbury Model Railway club was held on Saturday 10th February
in a new venue at the Newbury College.
There were eleven layouts including two club layouts being displayed along with eight traders providing a
variety of interest for both families looking for a fun day out and those with a keen
interest in railways and model railways.
We had well over 800 visitors to the event, many of which expressed their approval of the new venue with its light and spacious rooms and ample car parking.
The circle project was one of the two club layouts on display which allowed us to show the progress
we have made on this layout over the last year.
The first picture shows the current state of the layout in the final stages of preparation before the show doors were opened.
All of the track for the test track portion of the layout has now been completed and
we had four independent loops running trains throughout the day.

The layout proved very popular with visitors and always had a large number of people gathered around
watching the varied rolling stock being put through its paces. At one point during the day, we had a goods train
running round the outer circle with over 100 wagons being pulled behind the engine!
Watch out for a full update on the progress of the circle project (we must really think of name)
in the next few months.

The exhibition was one of the first opportunities to display the Exdale Light Railway layout
complete with its extension which is currently under construction.
There was plenty of interest from visitors and the operation of the layout went without any
problems.

There were nine guest layouts and here are a few pictures of some of those.
A big thank you to the exhibitors, the traders, the staff at the Newbury College,
the members of the Newbury Model Railway Club and most of all the general public who
visited our exhibition.
We hope to see you all next year!
