The Circle 'OO' Gauge Test Track was completed in late 2007 and is used on a regular basis on the first
Friday of every month as part of our running night.
The layout is duel purpose in that it serves as both a test track and eight of the board will also
be used as part of the exhibition standard layout called
Falkland Vale.
The following panels tell the story of how the layout was planned and built.
The layout was a much needed direct replacement of the old '00' test track. While this had served
the club well, it was showing its age. The plan was todirectly replace the board shape and redesign
the track layout. Our 7mm narrow gauge members were keen to ensure we allow them at least one
circle to run their stock.
The twelve boards were contructed from pine and plywood sheets. Each board has a set of collapsing
legs and is covered in cork as the road bed for the track.

Each Friday night 2-4 members of the club honed their skills, by wielding drills,
hammers (small ones), soldering irons etc, with the result that track went down to a very
good standard, and considerably faster than the real thing.
The wiring wiring phase also started as the track was being laid. Complete wiring diagrams were
produced for each board to allow anyone to helpi with the wiring.
After putting in a few extra sessions, we managed to complete two full circles ready for the open day in 2006.
We arranged the boards to be on view, with trains running, and while there were a few necessary temporary
short cuts (wiring), these did not hamper the project progress and gave us the second real project
milestone.
The sight of Sir Sam Fay (LNER B3 4-6-0 Class) progressing steadily around the track with no stalling or derailment problems was real sight,
and lead to a very successful test of the team's initial work during the day.

In the last few months of 2007, the remaining track laying and wiring was completed and the inner and outer
boards were painted black for protection.
There have been minor repairs made to the layout since completion but focus has now switched to the
larger exhibition layout called called
Falkland Vale.
